An oversize anvil work surface is featured on the Yost Forged Steel line of vises. This large work surface is machined smooth and designed for metal shaping or bending. Made from forged steel, this anvil work surface is more durable than work surfaces found on traditional cast iron vises. Yost forged steel vises are the only forged steel bench vises supplied with replaceable machinist and pipe jaws. These precision machined jaws provide better gripping surfaces than cast in place jaws. The option to replace these jaws when they are worn down, allows you to only replace parts you need rather than the full vise. The machined main bar means this vise will operate smoothly and precisely. If the bar of the vise does wear down the two Allen sets in the side of the vise are adjustable. Adjusting these Allen sets will make sure that the vise closes flush each and every time you use the vise. The handle, lockdowns and replaceable hardened steel serrated Machinist and Pipe Jaws are zinc plated. HOW TO USE : Make sure vise is securely mounted to the workbench and the swivel base lock is secure. Open the vise by turning the vise handle counterclockwise. Place item between the serrated jaws. Close the vise by turning the vise handle clockwise until the item is snug in the serrated jaws, continue to tighten until you can no longer move item. Don’t over tighten as this may damage item and or the vise. When finished working on the item, turn screw handle counterclockwise to release the item.
